Overview
Glass thermometer is a kind of instrument that uses the thermal expansion and cold contraction characteristics of alcohol to measure temperature. It consists of a glass bubble containing alcohol, a capillary tube, a scale and a temperature scale. The working principle of an alcohol thermometer is based on the volume change of alcohol at different temperatures, and the temperature is read by observing the height of the alcohol in the capillary tube. When used, it should be ensured that the foam of the thermometer is in full contact with the object to be measured, and when reading the temperature, the line of sight should be flat with the liquid surface in the thermometer to ensure the accuracy of the reading.

Preparation before use
1.Calibration check: Ensure that the thermometer has been calibrated, can be compared with the standard thermometer or verified in the ice-water mixture, and the liquid column is stable near the 0℃ scale
2.Appearance inspection: carefully check whether the glass tube is cracked or damaged, whether the liquid column is continuous without bubbles, whether the scale is clear, and replace it immediately when abnormal.
3.Full contact: the vacuole is in full contact with the measured object, completely immersed in the liquid or gas and does not touch the container wall
4.Avoid violent vibration: to prevent glass tube rupture or liquid column fracture, to avoid liquid column bubbles.
5.Wait for stability: patiently wait for the liquid column to be stable and then read, adapt to the temperature change of the measured medium.
6.Avoid direct sunlight: to prevent the surface temperature rise or the glass tube heat uneven
7.Sight level: the eye is level with the liquid surface, and the scale on the upper or lower edge of the liquid column is accurately read.
8.Cleaning and maintenance: clean the surface in time, remove residue, gently wipe with a soft cloth or cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
9.Proper storage: stored in a dry, cool, ventilated place, flat or hanging, avoid squeezing or collision.
